I think the Яolcat caption could’ve been a little improved in this case, too. The basic concept is pretty brilliant — the People’s Revolutionary Pandas are breeding so fast in captivity (the opposite of real life, of course) that the American capitalist zookeepers can’t keep up, and our bald eagles are going hungry.
But I think that “forsaken fecundity” isn’t as funny as it could’ve been… they missed an opportunity for a joke about the real-life “Heroines of Soviet Motherhood” medals (Мать-Героиня) that were awarded to women who had 10 or more children:
(Which is not intended to make light of the circumstances that originally inspired the “Heroines of Motherhood” medals — namely the horrific number of Soviet citizens who died in WWII.)
I know that this may be far from accurate, but it feels as if the USSR is portrayed as an honest hardworking society in which all individuals voluntarily suffer for the good of their society, but in the USA the population is kept senile and unaware as the intelligent and scientific oligarchs rule over.
I’m here to provide a hasty translation:
“In the world, here’s such a thing: there’s no food tastier than bamboo.”
In Russian, it rhymes.
Not much to say about this one, except to suggest that the first line could be translated a little more loosely for the sake of rhyme:
“Here’s a fact that’s surprising, yet true:
There’s no food tastier than bamboo.”
Храп / snore…. This may set a record for “most boring Russian original” on Яolcats!

Harold, you’re falling behind. Pick up the pace.
