If we discover you’ve been holding out, you’ll be treated to a reunion with your cousins at the bottom of the Moskva.
You're light on your payments again Andrei.
You can substitute short for light since short is another euphemism for paying less than required/necessary.
Rolf: What a delightfully bizarre construction. Too bad it sounds so much like a mispronunciation of "late", otherwise I'd adopt it for daily use.
Light, as in paying less than what is expected. Basically this Andrei is trying to skim money from his higher ups.
This site is a troll's dream... even when a troll says he is going to use the site to learn Russian [[ ;) TheBoss]] everyone takes him seriously!! Plus you have Fluent floating around attempting to put down the site, and yet reading every single new entry... <3
We, ugly Americans, sure do love to laugh - so long as its @ others' expense. Someone hx0rz this site already. Lame.
To Fluent,
I was born and raised in Russia and I find this pretty damn funny. If you can't see the humor in this then maybe you should go for a swim... :)
Sadly, none of these are translations. As in, there is no "between the lines", this is just stereotype mongering. I have looked at all the photos in this series, and it appears that the English commentary for each one was created by someone whose sole knowledge of anything Russian/Eastern block comes from reading the Gulag Archipelago. Definitely not someone who actually suffered from prosecution himself, or had any family members who did -- my grandfather was in the Gulags and neither he or his friends would ever make light of it.
The Russian commentary is actually pretty funny and sweet, in a non-political sort of way (well, except for the two kittens fighting:)
"Really, I can get ready for work in five minutes...it's just 2 hours go into finding my stuff...where the heck did I put that lipstick?!"
Definitely don't learn russian from this site!.
Part of what is so funny is how totally silly the "translations" are in comparison to what it really says in russian.
Don't trust it, TheBoss. I can see in the message the words "work", "5 minutes", and "where is this", none of which feature in the 'translation'. The words 'Andrei' and 'Moskva' are absent, too.
Not that there aren't lolz to be had...
I'm learning Russian right now and this site has helped greatly. But, I need more translations to augment my understanding. Please continue to help me.

Not that I'm totally impressed, but this is a lot more than I expected when I found a link on SU telling that the info here is quite decent. Thanks.
